How to Perform CR Maintenance on Mutoh XpertJet and ValueJet Printers
Published on  Updated on

If you own a Mutoh XpertJet and ValueJet Printer, to maximize the lifetime of all the parts exposed to ink, it is crucial to carry out some easy CR maintenance.

The most important maintenance actions are: Washing away ink remains from parts that are not (easily) accessible, avoiding the ink drying out, and possibly causing blockage.  Regularly remove ink remainders from accessible parts.

Now let’s take a more detailed look at how to perform CR maintenance on Mutoh XpertJet and ValueJet printers with current firmware.

Start by pressing the “Menu” key, then on the touchpad press the “right arrow”, and scroll up to “Setup20 - CR Maintenance” menu option. Once there press the “right arrow” key and hit “Enter” to start the CR-maintenance. This will shuttle the carriage to the left side of the printer so we can access it through the maintenance doors.

Take our swab and put some cleaning solution on it. Make sure not to put too much so that it drips off, put only just enough to wet it.

Start by cleaning the cap located here (see image below) go ahead and use your swab and clean the rubber seal around the cap, make sure to remove any dust or ink buildup that you might find.

Head over to the left side of the printer take a new clean swab with cleaning solution on it, and carefully clean the bottom edges of the printhead. Make sure you don't actually touch or clean the nozzle plate as this may cause damage to the brand.

Finally, close all of our covers we have pretty much completed most of our CR maintenance. For Ricoh solvent machines we recommend performing CR maintenance two to three times a week if you're an average print shop but you may want to clean your printer every day if you're in a high-production environment.

To end CR maintenance mode, just press the enter button. This will shuttle the carriage back to the home position. Press the home button once more to back out with the menu. If you're on an older ValueJet hitting the cancel button a few times we'll get you back to print-ready mode.
